Exploring the World by Bike

2017 Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Work Project

For those of you who have followed my blog for the last few years, you will be well acquainted with the Cycle of Hope. A fundraising bike ride for Habitat for Humanity Manitoba, the Cycle of Hope is celebrating its 24th year of successfully financing the construction, each year, of a Habitat home for a Manitoba family.

This is a special year in Canada’s history and a special year for the Cycle of Hope and Habitat for Humanity. In recognition of Canada’s 150th anniversary, Habitat for Humanity chapters across Canada will build 150 homes for Canadian families in conjunction with the Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter Work Project.

Former United States President Jimmy Carter and former First Lady Rosalynn Carter have been strong advocates and participants with Habitat and this year marks the 34th Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter Work Project.  Their efforts have been instrumental in encouraging “nearly 100,000 volunteers in 14 countries to build, renovate and repair more than 4,000 homes.” (“Habitat’s 34th Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Work Project to build 150 homes over 6 days in 2017“, Habitat for Humanity Canada)

More than just spokespeople for the cause, the President and First Lady work hammer-in-hand to help build these homes.

IMG_2809The Winnipeg chapter of Habitat is honoured to be chosen as one of the sites for this year’s historic build.  I, likewise, feel privileged to do my part to contribute to this inspirational project through my fundraising efforts in conjunction with the Cycle of Hope.

“Ride the Canadian Rockies” will run from July 3rd to 13th, finishing at the Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter Work Project build site in Winnipeg. President Carter and Mrs. Carter will be there when we return!

A donation to the Cycle of Hope will have a direct and meaningful impact in helping to provide safe and affordable housing in Winnipeg.  You may access my fundraising page at Kim’s donation page.

Thank you for your financial support and for making Canada’s 150th anniversary  a special year by helping change the life of a Manitoba family. As a little bonus for your generous support, you can look forward to my daily updates of the ride as we journey through the Rockies by following along at WWW.WellSpokenBlog.com.
